Who we are: exciting news

The European Laudato Si’ Alliance (ELSiA) is a network of Catholic organizations working together to bring the encyclical letter Laudato Si’ to life. Founded in 2019, it is currently composed by seven members. They are: Caritas Europa, CIDSE, COMECE, Don Bosco International, JESC, Justice and Peace Europe and the Laudato Si’ Movement. ELSiA intends to promote ecological justice and the social teaching of the Church as a shared and coordinated commitment of Catholic Alliances.

These are our objectives:

To advocate the message of the Catholic Church on integral ecology, in relation to both environmental policies and social justice issues;

To work with Bishops’ Conferences to draft contributions to EU climate, development, social and environmental policies;

To foster a broad network of European Catholic movements to engage holistically with Laudato Si’;

To promote a European-wide exchange of best practices for a more eco-responsible and sustainable lifestyle;

To further theological reflection on the issue of ecological conversion and to encourage the creation of a corresponding ecological spirituality;
